Come visit the Oak Glen Petting Zoo? Some of our animals include ponies, Macaws, laughing Kukaburras, Goats, Pigs and Deer. The new addition is our beautiful baby goat. We bought it at auction several weeks ago and are bottle feeding it. In our Petting Zoo there are a lot of baby animals for your kids to pet and lay down next to. Along with the Petting Zoo, we have Pony rides for the kids and a Trout Ponds to fish in.
Spring Tours
April through June, Tuesday through Friday
Visit our hand-built log cabin and choose four other activities from: toymaking, tinsmithing, butter churning, seed planting, barnyard visit, candle making, hayride, leather craft or “Horse Sense” presentation.
Fall Tours
September – Mid-November
Tuesday through Friday
Take a horse-drawn hayride through the woods, visit an authentic log cabin set up for a pioneer family, press your own cider on vintage presses, get a hot-dipped caramel apple for each student and choose 1 additional activity from toymaking, cabin life/chores, tinsmithing, candlemaking, a barnyard visit or leathercraft.

The Little Seedling Ranch Tour is geared towards our younger guests. Children can visit with the barnyard critters, scale the hay bale fort and mini-maze, play in the log cabin area and meet Johnny Appleseed. This go-at-your-own pace tour is available

Your school or group can customize your visit and choose from a number of activities, all of which are listed on our tour form, which includes everything from pressing apple cider (Autumn) to planting an apple tree (Spring) to “homesteading”a frontier cabin. Young folks can even stack a cabin themselves! The morning begins with a musical introduction where students can join the jug band and the songs performed reflect an old time past.
Activities are offered in 20 minute focused rotations (rope making, archery, etc.) or in hour long workshops (square dancing, etiquette, etc). Students can visit with a soldier from the Civil War or talk with an early Pilgrim settler speaking from a “first person” perspective. All classes are designed to be interactive and engage students in learning skills and characteristics of a bygone era.
Outdoor Education
at Oak Glen Preserve
Over 68,000 children have participated in the Oak Glen outdoor education program since its inception in 2002. Located in Oak Glen, nestled within the San Bernardino Mountains, this free program takes place on a two-mile nature trail on the Oak Glen Preserve. This trail meanders through an evergreen forest, past ponds that host migratory ducks in winter, and under a canopy of a deciduous black oak forest that opens onto a south-facing chaparral hillside. The return trail follows a willow shaded stream onto a boardwalk that is the home to a variety of butterflies when the wetlands are in bloom. Children will experience, within a small geographic area, ecosystems that were previously unknown to them.
