The Oak Glen Loop Growers ..
...may have changed somewhat over the last 100 years, but the country hospitality of its members remains just as warm and friendly as a century ago.
The association helps local farmers with agricultural tourism. The promise of an old fashion farm experience brings thousands of visitors each year to the San Bernardino mountains
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you're from the city...
...and have never had an opportunity to pick your own fruit or are simply out enjoying a ride on a beautiful day, take a drive out to Oak Glen Rd Loop. The loop, is full of small farms and merchants for the adventurous visitor to discover. Part of what makes Oak Glen unique in the entire country is the large concentration of farms (over 10 within such a relatively small area (approx. 10 square miles.)
--------------------------------------------------------------
It's fun because...
... the experience and crops you'll find vary by season. For example, arrive in early August and pick strawberries & Raspberries. While eating the juicy and still warm fruit, take a moment to examine the beauty of the Mountains beside the road.

Open Year 'Round - Mile High Fun For Everyone!

The mile-high climate of Oak Glen provides a beautiful change of seasons, unsurpassed in Southern California. It's always 10 to 15 degrees cooler up in Oak Glen than it is in the valleys. Apple orchards cover the slopes laden with blossoms in the Spring and apples in the Fall. The scenery is more like New England, and only 90 minutes from Los Angeles on the way to Palm Springs. Oak Glen offers wholesome family fun in every season.
Oak Glen offers clean family fun in every season. Visit orchards, taste mountain-fresh apples and cider, enjoy hot apple pie at one of the several family restaurants, feed the animals in the animal parks, or browse through some of the many specialty shops in the Glen. Enjoy Bed & Breakfast, RV facilities as well as camping and group accommodations are available. During the Fall season, you can pick your own apples, berries, & pumpkins, make your own cider or maybe enjoy country music and dancing. Apple Fact
Most varieties of apple trees require a hard freeze, which comes in areas that have a distinct change of seasons. In late fall and winter, apple trees are dormant.
The majority of apple trees require at least 500 chill hours to remain alive and thrive. Apples usually ripen and are ready to be picked in the late summer or early fall (Labor Day).
